    Goal:
    To train the participants in the immediate management of a critical patient [trauma/disease]and to provide them with the basic knowledge necessary to perform -

    • Rapid and Accurate assement of the patient’s condition.
    • Priority wise resuscitation and stabilization of the patient.
    • Assessment whether the vicitim’s needs could exceed a facility’s capabilities.
    • Arrangment of inter hospital transfers if necessary.
    • Provision of optimum care all the way.


    OBJECTIVES :
    Designed to train doctors & Bsc. Nursing personnel to provide emergency cate to victim of serious condition. The concept “Golden Hour” does not necessary imply a fixed time frame of 60minutes but emphasizes the urgency necessary for successful management of the seriously injured trauma victim. Upon completion of the participants would be expected to -

    • Demomstrate concept and principals of primary and secondary assessment of trauma victims.
    • Establish management priorities in a trauma situation.
    • Inititate primary and secondary management with the golden hour.
    • Demonstrate in a given simulated clinical and surgical skill station the skills necessary for     the intial assessment and management of patients with multiple injured.

    INTIAL ASSESSMENT AND MANGEMENT :
    Treatment and management of a serious  of a serous patient requires rapid assessment and institution of life saving theraphy. Since time is of essence a systematic approach is essential.
    This includes :

    • Preparation
    • Triage
    • Primary Survery [ABC]
    • Resuscitation.
    • Secondary survey [head to toe]
    • Continued post resuscitation
    • Inventory and reevaluation.
    • Definitive care.

    IN HOSPITAL PHASE :
    Advanced planning for the arrival of seriously ill patien [trauma] is essential. Proper airway equipments eg. Working Laryngoscope, airways, suction apparatus, ambu bag, oxugen,etc should be readily available at an accessible point within the emergency room. Warm crystalloid IV solution eg. Ringer lacate should be hung in readilness.

    • REVISED TRAUMA SCORE.
    • TRAUMA UNIT (ICU) MANAGEMENT.
    • ASSISTANCE TO SURGEON IN OT.
    • LINE OF TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT ON THE ADVISED & INSTRUCTION OF A CONSULTANT
    • SUCTION. (ORAL, NASAL, TRACHEAL, AND ENDOTRACHEAL)
    • I.V. LINE. (SCALP VEIN AND VASOFIX)
    • URINE CATHETRIZATION. (MALE/FEMALE)
    • RYLES TUBE INSERTION.
    • GASTRIC LAVAGE AND FEEDING.
    • OXYGEN.
    • ENDOTRACHEAL INTUBATION.
    • MANAGEMENT OF TRACHEOTOMY.
    • AEPTIC PRECAUTIONS.
    • MOUTH WASH.
    • DRESSINGS.
    • SUTURING.
    • AUTOCLAVE.
    • INSTRUMENTS KNOWLEDGE AND USE.
    • TRANSPORTATION.

    DURATION :          30 days.
    REGISTRATION :  Restricted for 15 candidates in one batch.
