SAFETY AND FIRST-AID ADVICE: |
Duties of a first-aid provider.
- To reach the site of an accident with the best possible and readily available First-Aid kit.
- Look for our own safety.
- Quick observation for the number of vehicles involved and the people injured.
- Look for the casualties on priority, like unconscious victim’s, children, pregnant ladies, severe bleeding and other life threatening condition victims.
- Casualties who are shouting and making noise are competitively better.
- Take help of the bystander, most of them will have no First-Aid training but no problem utilize them to assist and to arrange for the vehicle to lift and shift the casualties.
- Inform the police because they are always on the toes to help the people in crisis and being a first witness its your duty .
- Some victim’s require only reassure because they are only with a mental shock.
- Keep the casualty warm and in a comfortable position.
- Take care of airway in an unconscious victim.
- In an unconscious and unresponsive victim immediate give 02 rescue breath then asses for his breathing and carotids.
- If no breathing and no carotids then continue with artificial breathing and start external chest compression till arrival of a health care professional or till his/her signs of improvement .
- Try to keep the record of the number of casualties and their status of health, this information is of great help to the doctor for further treatment and management.
- Use disposables and preventive techniques to avoid cross infection. [ Between victim and you]
